We’re staying at my brother-in-law’s house this month, while we transition from one university to another.  It’s kind of out in the middle of nowhere, like 15 minutes from the nearest town – and that town is one that I would consider small and in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, I’m kind of a city girl.

Anyway, the next door neighbor is really obsessed with his boat.  Every night (literally), his friends come over to drink beer and revel in the glory of his boat.  Sometimes they sit in the boat while drinking beer and listening to the baseball game on the radio.  Other nights, he pulls the boat out of the garage and they drink beer while he washes it.  Tonight, he pulled it slightly out of the garage and they drank beer and slowly walked around the boat.  I’m pretty sure I saw him caress it.

So, is there some kind of boat-worshiping religion that I’m not aware of?  Or is this just what country folk do every night of the week?  I’m so confused.
