Baby Jo recently transitioned to a toddler bed after climbing out of her crib. At 14 months old, C climbed out of this crib and about 25 years before that, I threw my leg over that rail and climbed out, too. This crib has been in our family for nearly 30 years. We’re finished with it, but I can’t just toss it away. I discovered a way to upcycle a crib, transforming it into wall decor for race medals. We can display the culmination of our current goals on a sentimental piece of furniture.
This is a very easy DIY project! You will need hinges, a screwdriver and one side of your crib. C helped me take off the existing hardware.
Decide which side of the crib you want to display. You will want to attach your hinges to the side that will face the wall. Use one hinge on each side of the top of your race medal display, for a total of two hinges, making sure that they will lay flat against the wall. You could screw the upcycled crib directly onto the wall; however, I chose hinges to avoid seeing the screws.
Now attach your upcycled crib to the wall! I needed a helping hand to hold the crib while I screwed it into the wall.
Attach your medals, stand back and enjoy your new race medal wall decor! Hubster and I just started running races last year and I can’t wait to add a bunch of medals this year.
Know that feeling you get when you turn something old into something new? It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside! I love finding new ways to use old things. Energizer has done that with their new EcoAdvanced Batteries. Energizer EcoAdvanced is the first battery on the market to use recycled batteries and materials. This is Energizer’s longest lasting alkaline ever.
They’ve taken something old and made it new. That’s some guilt-free energy I can stand behind. You can find these Energizer EcoAdvanced Batteries in AA and AAA at Walmart.
