What is a midwest summer without barbecues and grilling out? I love getting together with family and friends, the aroma of brats on the grill, a cold beverage in hand. I have to admit, though – I am not a grill master. I like to leave the grilling to someone else and bring along a delicious side or dessert! This 5-layer chili cheese dip can be put into a large bowl or portioned into single serve bowls for a fun appetizer. HORMEL® Chili No Beans is the star of this dip recipe. I selected little glass bowls to show off the colorful layers, and they are easy to walk around with at a party.
You’ll need a can of HORMEL® Chili No Beans (you can also use HORMEL® Chili With Beans), one package of cream cheese, three tomatoes, half of an onion, one cup of shredded lettuce and one cup of shredded cheese.
In a small saucepan, heat the chili and cream cheese over low heat until melted. Stir until combined.
Dice the onions and tomatoes, then set aside for later.
For the first layer, pour the chili cheese mixture into the bowls. Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheese. Add a layer of diced tomatoes. Next, add the diced onions. If you have a strong onion, use sparingly! Top with shredded lettuce.
Arrange on a table with some chips so your guests can grab a bowl and go!
