There are common threads woven through most personal Whole 30 journeys. We usually hear about people getting better sleep, gaining healthier habits, and losing weight. Even though there are similarities, each experience is unique. My experience led me to many personal victories in addition to weight loss. My Whole 30 results are so life-changing for me that I plan to continue a mostly Whole 30 lifestyle as I move forward. Here’s why:
Stronger Immune System
My family has been sick for over a month with colds that won’t quit! I am usually the person who catches everything, but I’m the only one who has remained healthy. I credit this to my Whole 30 – my body is no longer fighting inflammation on a daily basis and can devote resources to fending off illness.
Since having my children, I have dealt with recurring depression and anxiety. My mental health is regulated with medication; however, I still experience anxiety. Since starting Whole 30, my daily anxiety is at an all-time low. I feel more in control of my life and my mental health.
My complexion is clear and winter-related patches of dry skin have almost entirely cleared up!
Do you ever get that extremely full feeling after eating? Do you feel like you might be sick shortly after a meal? On Whole 30, I no longer experience any of that.
Healthier Relationship with Food & Fewer Cravings
I was helpless when it came to sugar cravings. When I needed some chocolate, I needed it now! The first two weeks were the most challenging for sugar withdrawal. Now I don’t feel the need to have daily dessert. I can decline a piece of birthday cake and feel good about it.
The other day, I was at my laptop and noticed that my posture was perfect. I started to take note that I am standing taller and sitting straighter. I’m gaining confidence in myself and it’s revealing itself in all ways.
I know – all that other stuff is great, but what about the stats? Does Whole 30 really work? Yes. Yes, it does. It is very difficult for me to lose weight. I’ve tried many things and the results are always minimal at best. I found the answer to many of my issues (relationship with food, mental health, hormone imbalance) in Whole 30. I lost 10 pounds, 10.5 inches, and one pant size during my Whole 30!
