As a MomSelect member, I attended a #PapaMurphysMom #BehindTheCounter event where I received delicious pizza. As always, the thoughts and opinions below are entirely my own.
When I first stepped into the new Menasha, WI, location of Papa Murphy’s, I was impressed by the bright, modern interior. Dan and Wes greeted us and it was immediately evident that they love what they do!
We have been Papa Murphy’s customers for a long time. C loves the Cowboy Pizza. It’s one of the few things that he always accepts! I didn’t realize that Papa Murphy’s makes their pizza dough fresh, in-store on a daily basis. They use a ginormous mixer to create a 66-pound ball of dough that then gets cut into smaller dough balls. Fellow bloggers and I tried out the dough sheeter, which flattens the dough to prepare it for pizzas. I may have had to toss mine in to get it started. Short person problems!
While many pizzerias buy bags of pre-shredded cheese, Papa Murphy’s uses 100% whole milk mozzarella. It comes in 10-pound blocks and they shred it in-store. This means that there are no fillers in Papa Murphy’s cheese, providing you with that beautiful string of cheese with each bite of your pizza. Did you know that their use of topping cheese keeps your toppings from falling off your pizza? Papa Murphy’s also sources local produce for its vegetable toppings. Their delicious mushrooms are locally grown, sliced in-store and kept in the walk-in freezer for a day before use so that they don’t water down your pizza. Meat is the only thing that arrives to the store pre-cooked and pre-sliced, to prevent having raw meat in the kitchen.
Did you know that Papa Murphy’s now offers a gluten-free crust? They order it from Udi’s and keep it sealed until you request it. Employees change their gloves and use different ladles for your toppings to avoid cross-contamination. While it’s not the best choice for a celiac due to the gluten-filled environment, I’m impressed that they take these extra precautions to provide customers with a gluten-free option. I will definitely be trying it out!
I brought home a Mini Murph pizza for C. We actually use these as a therapy tool for his sensory processing disorder (SPD). He is challenged to touch the toppings as he creates his own pizza. Getting invested in his food creates more interest for him.
Hubster loves the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and if you have never tried a S’Mores Pizza for dessert, then you’re missing out! It’s so good. Papa Murphy’s also offers salads, cinnamon wheels and cheese bread. After learning more about the fresh, quality and local ingredients that Papa Murphy’s uses, I feel even better about serving it to my family. It’s an excellent option for a busy family that needs a wholesome meal.
