A Huge Sigh of Relief

I didn’t realize this until before the ultrasound yesterday, but I was getting pretty nervous about everything being okay with Baby Deuce.  I haven’t been able to take my vitamins regularly because they just look too gross to consume (I opted for gummies over pills a month ago, but they still activate my gag reflex for some reason).  In general, I know I haven’t gotten enough calories in the past few months.  That’s been made obvious by my weight loss.  What I am able to eat is not very healthy.  I do eat a lot of fruit, but other than that…lots of simple carbs and then there’s the straight-up crap like poptarts and donuts.  Except for some tomatoes in pizza sauce or the veggies in a burrito, I haven’t eaten vegetables in ages.

I was severely concerned that my HG and, thereby, lack of nutrition had somehow caused poor Baby Deuce some major hardships.

I’m letting out a ginormous sigh of relief now that we know Baby Deuce is perfectly healthy and is measuring in the 55th percentile.  THANK GOD. :)

Ginormous baby?

Some of you may know that two weeks ago, my doctor ordered an ultrasound because Baby C was measuring rather large.  (more about that here) I was terrified (as I have been since I first found out I was pregnant) that I would end up birthing a 10-pound baby.  Vaginally.  The horror!

I was given good news today!!!  He’s actually in the 50th-60th percentile, which means they’re expecting him to be between 7 and 8 pounds.  Upon hearing that news, I think even my vagina let out a sigh of relief.

The bad news is that she didn’t move up my due date, which I was really hoping for.  I can’t imagine being pregnant for another 2 months.  But I’ll take that over having a 10-pound kid, I guess. :)

Big Baby?

Today, we got to catch a glimpse of Baby C!  My doctor ordered a growth ultrasound since my fundal height is measuring ahead of schedule.  Just like at our 20-week ultrasound, he’s measuring about one week ahead of schedule.  But this time they said that he’s measuring at 29 weeks, 4 days “give or take two weeks.”  WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

At over 3 pounds, I’m afraid that he’s going to be a huge baby.  I read somewhere that babies gain about a half pound each week…and I have 11 weeks left per my due date.  That would mean I’d give birth to a 9.5 pound baby!!!  Yikes.

Does anyone know if 3 pounds at 28 weeks is big?  It seems that way per some online and book resources I’ve looked at…

Weekly Update

28 weeks, 1 days

Size of baby: Small cabbage (17 in., 2.9 lbs)

Newly craved food: This is so random and I haven’t caved into this craving yet…but Little Debbie Zebra Cakes.  I don’t think I’ve had one of those since I was in elementary school, so I find it a little confusing!

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss: Working…it’s been a little difficult not getting out of the apartment as much as I used to.

What are you looking forward to: Seeing our baby via ultrasound on Friday.  Apparently I’m carrying a monster baby, so they’ve scheduled a growth ultrasound since I’m measuring further ahead.

What was the BEST part of last week? Catching up on some sleep over the weekend.  It was weird not having the hubster home while he was at a conference, but it was also kind of nice going to bed early and not feeling like I was missing out on time with him.

What was the WORST part of last week? Back pain.

It’s a Boy!

After waiting 12 weeks to see pictures of our little blessing, it was super fun to see that our bean has transformed into a healthy baby boy!  Seeing his little movements was so fun.  We came home with nine  ultrasound pictures of him, including his face, profile, hands and feet.  He’s also measuring a week ahead, although my doctor is not changing my due date.  We’re excited to meet our little boy in April!

The anticipation of seeing him had me cycling through moments of anxiety, excitement and complete calm that morning.  It was nice to see him, his healthy little limbs and organs and to find out who’s in there!  Now we can give him a name and stop calling him “it” and “the baby”.  It’s so much more personal now.

Anticipation

Tomorrow morning we have the anatomy ultrasound and will be finding out the gender of our baby!  I am so excited and filled with anticipation that I even had trouble sleeping last night.  I don’t think I’ll be getting any sleep tonight either.  Even more than wanting to know what we’re having, I am hoping that everything will be okay with the baby’s anatomy.  Five fingers and toes on each hand and foot please!

16-Week Appointment

So luckily, my worst nightmare didn’t come true… I’ve only gained three pounds total since getting pregnant.  That technically means I’m still down two, because I lost weight during my first trimester from hell.  (Background: about 95% of the time, it was nearly impossible to eat or drink anything until my doctor finally prescribed Zofran in my 12th week.  I was too busy gagging and dry heaving to get any food or liquids into my system.)  That was a relief!

We were able to hear baby’s heartbeat on the doppler.  Best. Sound. Ever.

And (drum roll please), in 3 weeks we get to have the anatomy ultrasound and we will find out the sex of our baby!!!  I am *so* excited.
