Baby Deuce: Three Weeks Left!

Busting out of my maternity clothes! My belly is lopsided - Baby Deuce is saying hello to all of you!

I’m busting out of my maternity clothes. My belly is lopsided – Baby Deuce is saying hello to all of you!

How far along? 36 weeks, 1 day

Cravings: Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked Ice Cream, spicy Chinese food

Aversions: All vegetables, eggs, beef

Feeling? I’m so tired! All of the contractions are wearing me out.

What I’m looking forward to: On the plus side, I have three weeks left! Or less! :)

What I miss: Being able to stand without experiencing back and hip pain and being able to turn over in bed without getting out of breath!

What was the BEST part of last week? It was a long week, but we had some nice family time over the weekend!

What was the WORST part of last week? I was woken up at 5:15am yesterday – not from one of my own children, but because someone else’s full-grown child was banging on a window and screaming, “GOOD MORNING, VIETNAAAAM!” Um, really. Then the people who live directly above our bedroom decided to have a dance party or something. *sigh* Campus living and family life sometimes don’t mix so well…!

Milestones: Baby Deuce has dropped, and my belly is noticeably much lower! I find myself in a constant state of feeling the need to pee.

35 Weeks: Contractions, Preparations and C’s Ear Infection

Oops, I forgot to take a picture for this week!  The past week has been pretty interesting.  I’m starting to wonder if Baby Deuce will be ready earlier than her scheduled date of arrival…

Anyway, this week we get to meet the finalists for the next Mamavation Mom campaign, and I can’t wait to see who they are!  Good luck to all of the applicants!

Here’s my update, as I’m now in my 35th week with Baby Deuce:

How far along? 35 weeks

Cravings: Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked Ice Cream

Aversions: All vegetables, eggs, beef

Feeling? On Thursday morning, I experienced two hours of regular contractions that were 4-5 minutes apart and took my breath away.  My doctor told me to come in and shortly after I got hooked up to the monitor, the contractions became irregular.  At 34.5 weeks, I was happy they became irregular…but at the same time, that always makes me feel a little bit silly when the contractions stop being regular as soon as I get to the doctor!  It happened twice with C, but much later (including two days before he was finally born – at 40+ weeks).  I continue to have strong, irregular contractions that take my breath away, as well as loads of mild ones.

What I’m looking forward to: Having this baby!  I hope she stays put for a couple more weeks, but would welcome her gladly if she wants to come before May 6!

What I miss: Being active in any way without contractions.  I can’t even walk to the parking lot without having contractions anymore.

What was the BEST part of last week? Honestly, I don’t know. Last week was kind of rough (see next question).

What was the WORST part of last week? Hubster worked long hours last week while interviewing job candidates, which made it difficult for me to “take it easy,” like the doctor told me to do.  C’s been sick for over two weeks and it turns out he has an ear infection. Poor kiddo!

Milestones: There are only four weeks left until my scheduled c-section. I’m working on getting all of the last-minute preparations done for Baby Deuce’s arrival, considering all of the contractions I’m already experiencing.

Baby Deuce: 34 Week Update

Baby Deuce 34 Weeks

How far along? 34 weeks, 1 day

Cravings: Strawberries

Aversions: All vegetables, eggs, beef

Feeling? My depression and anxiety are back, and I’m eager for my long-awaited appointment with my psychiatrist today.  I’m also having severe pelvic and pubic bone pain, and a ton of Braxton Hicks contractions.

What I’m looking forward to: One of the cool things about living on campus is the types of educational opportunities that are available.  I volunteered C to participate in the language learning lab on campus!  Tomorrow is his appointment.  Hopefully he cooperates and is a good subject for the students!

What I miss: Being able to move without pain.

What was the BEST part of last week? C went to Nana and Papa’s for a couple of days, so I was able to catch up on some work, get a few full nights of sleep, and Hubster and I were also able to go out on two date nights in a row!

What was the WORST part of last week? Being woken up in the middle of the night by painful contractions, and having a difficult time finding something to wear because my belly is starting to feel whale-like.  BUT…my thighs and butt can still fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans, so go me. ;)

Milestones: My daily countdown is now in the 30s!  We’ll meet little miss Baby Deuce five weeks from today. :)

Baby Deuce: 32 Week Update

baby deuce 32 weeks

How far along? 32 weeks, 1 day

Cravings: Shortbread Girl Scout Cookies

Aversions: Lots

Feeling? Tired, and apparently it’s obvious. I don’t remember Hubster telling me I was crabby while pregnant with C, but yesterday he told me he’d talk to me after my nap when I wouldn’t be crabby. Oops!

What I’m looking forward to: There are exactly 7 weeks left until Baby Deuce arrives!  49 days!

What I miss: Vegetables, long walks outside in temperatures above freezing.

What was the BEST part of last week? We went to visit Hubster’s family on Saturday, and we picked out a bunch of C’s cousins’ clothes for Baby Deuce to borrow!  It was good to see them, especially considering I don’t think I’ll be game for another 4-hour round trip before Baby Deuce arrives.  We’re also so thankful they’re loaning us baby clothes!

What was the WORST part of last week? Hubster had his stent removed from his bile duct on Friday.  This was actually a really good thing, because everything looks clear now and this whole gallbladder thing should be behind him now!

Milestones: 49 Days Left! When I put it that way, it seems manageable now. I cannot wait to trade this hyperemesis in for a BABY.

Baby Deuce: 30 Week Update

Baby Deuce 30 wks

Do I look tired?! ;)

How far along? 30 weeks, 2 days

Cravings: Nothing in particular, but I have been consuming a lot of Chobani.  Peach and strawberry banana are my two favorites right now.

Aversions: We’re just going to skip this one, because the list would be long and obnoxious.

Feeling? Tired.  Large.  I go back and forth between thinking, “Whoa, we’re going to have another CHILD here in just 9 weeks!” and thinking, “OMG NINE LONG WEEKS, I’M NEVER GOING TO SURVIVE UNTIL THEN!”

What I’m looking forward to: Sunshine, walks outdoors with my kiddos, feeling less like a balloon and more like a human.

What I miss: Vegetables, being able to turn over in bed without getting out of breath, working out.

What was the BEST part of last week? While Hubster was away at a hiring conference for work, my mom came to visit and help me out with C.  It was such a huge help, because I’m so darn tired these days!

What was the WORST part of last week? Hubster was super busy last week and we barely saw him.  I’m excited that things are settling down a little bit at work for him this week, so we should be able to spend a little more time with him.

Milestones: My c-section is scheduled for May 6th at 7:00am, which is precisely one week after C’s birthday and, coincidentally, he was born at 7:11am.  I wonder how close to being exactly one week apart these two will be!

Baby Deuce: 26 Week Update

C running out of the picture and me laughing at the impossibility of a posed picture. Typical!

C running out of the picture and me laughing at the impossibility of a posed picture. Typical!

It’s been kind of a rough week/weekend here, so I’m combining a pregnancy update with my Mamavation Monday post today.  This update includes how I’m doing with eating (healthy cravings for the win!) as well as my lack of exercise (boo for exhaustion from calorie deficits!).

How far along? 26 weeks, 1 day

Cravings: Strawberries and grapes.  Hooray for a healthy craving!

Aversions: Where do I begin?

Feeling? Super hormonal.  I almost cried at my sister-in-law’s during a conversation some ladies were having about their vaginal births and getting to see their babies faces as they were born.  As many of you know, that’s an experience I’ll never have.  Apparently I’m really sensitive about it these days.  Also nearly cried at church yesterday when I saw a mom looking down and smiling at the baby in her arms.  I think I’m scared of PPD part deuce (see what I did there?  hehe).

What I’m looking forward to: Let’s get this baby OUT!  I want to eat healthy food again without vomiting.  I WANT A SALAD!

What I miss: SALAD!!!

What was the BEST part of last week? Well…it’s been one of those not-so-great weeks here.  Hubster had to stay in the hospital overnight last night because he seems to be having complications from the gallbladder surgery he had in December.  We don’t really know what’s happening yet, but they’ll be running more tests today.  One of his gallstones may have escaped into his bile duct before his gallbladder was removed.

What was the WORST part of last week?  haha, see above! ;)

Milestones: I have less than 100 days of pregnancy left now!  HOORAY!

Baby Deuce: 24 Week Update

Pajama Day! The wind chill was -25 degrees, so we huddled up indoors yesterday on Hubster's day off.

Pajama Day! The wind chill was -25 degrees, so we huddled up indoors yesterday on Hubster’s day off.

How far along? 24 weeks, 1 day

Cravings: I had to buy a package of Oreos this week.  Nom nom nom!

Aversions: Where do I begin?

Feeling? I’ve been doing okay with HG, so on Sunday night I decided to skip the Unisom that I’ve been taking every single night (part of my “drug cocktail” as I call it. I’ve been able to do without Zofran most of the time, but not Unisom.).  That was a big mistake!  I felt very nauseous yesterday, and will go back to taking my nightly Unisom.  Ugh!

I also had another huge blood sugar crash.  I didn’t realize what it was right away.  It was scary how fast I went downhill to the point of feeling like I was going to die.  I’m hoping that I don’t end up with gestational diabetes, but right now I think it’s simply a low blood sugar issue.

What I’m looking forward to: Quite honestly, the only thing pregnancy-related thing I’m looking forward to at the moment is meeting this baby and kicking HG to the curb!

What I miss: High-intensity cardio!  I cannot WAIT to go back to my favorite workouts.

What was the BEST part of last week? Hubster had a three-day weekend with MLK, Jr. Day.  It was nice to hang out as a family.  We also had a grad school friend stay with us for the first part of the weekend and it was awesome to hang out with her!

What was the WORST part of last week?  Thinking I could go without my Unisom…and then experiencing the consequences.

Milestones: We know that Baby Deuce is a girl!

One of our pic attempts - C being silly!

Baby Deuce: 19 Week Update

Baby Deuce 19 Wks

C was very uninterested in taking this week’s picture!

How far along? 19 weeks, 2 days – I’ll reach my halfway point this week, since my c-section will be during week 39! :)

Cravings: None

Aversions: Vegetables, protein, most things in the world.  The evilest of all evils: onions and beef.

Feeling? I’m kind of nervous about holiday parties that are coming up, because I can only control my own environment.  I’m hoping that there won’t be aromas and food that will be too hard for me to handle. *fingers crossed*

What I’m looking forward to: Finding out Baby Deuce’s gender!

What I miss: Life without nausea and an altered sense of smell and taste.

What was the BEST part of last week? Hanging out with my little family.

What was the WORST part of last week?  I got another stomach bug last week.  I can’t win, y’all!  I realized that I’m 12 pounds lighter right now than I was at this point in my pregnancy with C.  While it feels great to not carry around that extra weight, I also feel bad that I’m not able to eat better for this baby.

Milestones: We find out if we’re having a boy or a girl TOMORROW!  Look for a picture post in the afternoon revealing Baby Deuce’s gender!  What do you think it will be?

Baby Deuce: 18 Week Update

How far along? 18 weeks, 4 days

Cravings: A long john donut – indulged this one, and no regrets.  It was DELICIOUS.

Aversions: Vegetables, meat, um…I think I have more aversions than non-aversions.  I have a helluva time eating anything that’s healthy.

Feeling? Okay.  I’m surviving.  I’m still taking my Unisom at night and Zofran as needed during the day, though I try to avoid the Zofran when the nausea is tolerable.

What I’m looking forward to: Walking through a local holiday lights display.  C will love it!  Hubster’s brother, sister-in-law and three girls will try to come visit and go with us!

What I miss: Wanting to eat, and being able to cook for my family with ease.  It’s so hard to work with food when it looks and smells disgusting to you.  I feel so guilty about not cooking decent meals every night like I used to.

What was the BEST part of last week? Finishing a 5k with a friend!  It was a great time, and I’m so blessed to be able to finish the race with an awesome friend.

What was the WORST part of last week?  Feeling sick a lot.  I still need to nap every day, and I think it’s because HG just wears me out so much.

Milestones: It’s not really a milestone, but the upside to having HG plague me for longer this time is that I’m noticing changes in my body.  Like…things are getting thinner.  Baby Deuce must be living off of my fat reserves, and I’m sure not going to complain about that!  It’s the only positive part of being this sick, and I’m going to take delight in it. ;)  I ordered some maternity t-shirts and had fun trying them on and noticing that everything except my baby belly is getting smaller.

Baby Deuce: 17 Week Bump Update

How far along? 17 weeks, 2 days

Cravings: Cinnabon – I indulged on Sunday, and it was delicious!

Aversions: Vegetables, protein

Feeling?  Excited (see next question!).

What I’m looking forward to: We have a holiday edition of MOPS this week and I have to figure out what to bake!  This weekend, I’ll be walking a 5k with a great friend, @rachhabs.  We’ll also have Hubster’s office Christmas party that I get to bake another sweet treat for.  Tis the season!

What I miss: Having good posture without thinking about it.  I consciously have to tuck my hips in now, because I tend to arch my back to counteract the burgeoning baby belly.

What was the BEST part of last week? We had SO much family time!  Hubster had a three-day weekend, and we took full advantage of it since he has to work next weekend.  We took C to an open gym at a gymnastics center, went to the zoo, a festival of lights, and simply hung out together.  It rocked.

What was the WORST part of last week?  I was vomiting again for a few days.  I’ve been sicker with this pregnancy than I was with C, and that’s saying a lot, unfortunately.  I’ve actually lost weight since getting pregnant.

Milestones: No milestones this week.

Baby Deuce: 16 Week Bump Update

C was laughing so hard!

How far along? 16 weeks, 4 days

Cravings: Vlasic Zesty Dill Spear Pickles

Aversions: Most vegetables and protein

Feeling?  Tired!  I think Baby Deuce went through a big growth spurt this week, because I’ve been totally zapped of my energy.

What I’m looking forward to: Hubster was able to get Friday off since he worked on Thanksgiving, so he has a three-day weekend!  We’re planning on some family fun, like going to a holiday lights display and maybe even the zoo.

What I miss: Being able to zip/button non-maternity coats. :(

What was the BEST part of last week? Even though Hubster was on duty over Thanksgiving and the weekend, he was home a lot.  We had a lot of quality family time!  I had an OB appointment on Monday and scheduled my ultrasound for mid-December.  I cannot WAIT to find out Baby Deuce’s gender!

What was the WORST part of last week?  I discovered that I’ve been having low blood sugar.  I’ve experienced a couple of blood sugar crashes that were really tough.  Now I’m learning what to eat/when to eat in order to keep things level.  It’s a learning process!

Milestones: Scheduling the ultrasound was super exciting!

Baby Deuce: Week 15 Bump Update

I kept forgetting to take this picture, so C isn’t in it because I knew I’d better take it at the moment it was on my mind.  Oops!

How far along? 15 weeks, 5 days

Cravings: Raspberries, Starbucks Gingerbread Latte

Aversions: Beef, fried foods, eggs, peppers, onions and, usually any type of meat.

Feeling?  I skipped my 4mg of Zofran a few times, and the nausea was definitely there but manageable!  C came down with the stomach flu over the weekend.  So far, I haven’t vomited but I definitely have the body ache and headache that he experienced.

What I’m looking forward to: Getting rid of this nausea completely and feeling up to getting on the elliptical again, as well as starting some of the pregnancy workout DVDs that I have.

What I miss: I have the same answer as last week here – running, high-intensity cardio.

What was the BEST part of last week? We had an excellent time at the holiday parade last weekend (blog post and photos coming soon!).

What was the WORST part of last week? C getting the stomach flu and vomiting for the first time (and the second and third time!).  He was so scared, and it broke my heart!  I also had to cancel my OB appointment because of it.  Now, it’s scheduled for three weeks later than it should have been (also due to OB’s vacation time).  Bummed out because if I could’ve gone to that appointment, my ultrasound would’ve been scheduled!

Milestones: Being able to skip my Zofran a few times!
