I belong to a few Facebook groups for parents of tubies, kids with severe feeding challenges and blended diets. One mother posted a picture of her son’s new Blendtec blender with hope that a new blended diet will benefit her son. I commented that the blended diet is changing my son’s life. Then I sat back for a moment and let those words really sink in.
C’s blended diet is changing his life.
Because, it really is. There are the little (but big!) things like how fast his nails grow, how thick his hair has gotten, how much his vocabulary has grown. But when I look at the big picture over the past three, or even six, months – it’s nothing short of remarkable.
His muscle tone has improved. He’s crawling on the floor and lying on his belly. He has always hated doing that and had a very weak core as a result.
He is noticeably more solid when I pick him up. While he hasn’t gained a significant amount of weight, it’s obvious that there is more to him. His trunk is thicker. His hands are stronger.
Cognitively, behaviorally…C is thriving. He’s doing so much better than I could have hoped for just two short months ago when we started his blended diet. He goes to his weekly group therapy and has a wonderful time playing with friends, challenging himself to participate in activities outside of his comfort zone and learning new songs. He now talks in what I can only describe as paragraphs. Hearing his thoughts and words, his vocabulary ever expanding, brings me great joy.
For the first time in C’s life, he is receiving balanced nutrition from real, natural food sources. Real food is changing my son’s life.
I’m including an Amazon affiliate link to this amazing product. We receive a small portion of the sale from this link, all of which goes to purchasing C’s weekly supply of fruits, veggies, dairy and protein.
