C is simply obsessed with Disney’s Cars. A Disney Cars birthday party was the only way to go this year. Lightning McQueen, Mater, Francesco, Finn McMissile…the boy is all about his favorite Cars characters. Baby Jo…well, without a preference at the age of one, she was just along for the ride!
My kids’ birthdays are just one day apart. Naturally, we will celebrate a joint birthday until that time comes when they insist on separate celebrations. I will enjoy the simplicity of one birthday bash until then! 😉 One party, one set of invitations, one cost for decorations, one cake…
Tamara, the Cake Guru, did our wedding cake five years ago, so when I was planning a big cake for the kids I knew there was simply no one else to order from. Scroll to the end to view her beautiful two-layered Mater and Lightning McQueen creation!
These personalized water bottles were super cute, celebrating the kids’ names and ages. You can outfit an entire party with printables in an array of themes from Little Bug Shoppe on Etsy.
Even though the main course was pizza – the only thing I knew our tubie would eat! – it simply wouldn’t be a healthy party without loads of fruit and vegetable options! I enjoyed making these Piston Cups, Mater’s Ghost Light Salad and Stoplight Fruit Salad:
Baby Jo rocked this Cars-themed tutu on her first birthday, from Tutus by Terrah. This is one of my favorite pictures from that day. She is such a Daddy’s girl!
Opening presents was super fun, but surprisingly she wasn’t that interested in the cake.
C had so much fun running around with cousins and friends, playing with his new toys and venturing outside with Grandpa.
I can’t believe my babies are 3 and 1 already! It was a wonderful day. In fact, it was the first time that C had a birthday party. We lived six hours from family for his first birthday and I went into labor as I was hanging the birthday banner for his second birthday! Celebrating our two miracles and all that we’ve been through this year was pretty special. 🙂
