There’s something different about having a place that we can call our own this year. University housing was good for us, but there was something so temporary about it that deterred me from decorating. Our home, though? It’s all ours and I am enjoying every moment of decorating for each season. I created this DIY Burlap and Tulle Fall Wreath to sit atop our living room fireplace. It can easily adorn any room in your home or liven up the front door!
I used burlap, white tulle, and sparkly orange tulle. I found a small letter and a fall flourish at my craft store. The personalization options are endless to make this your own! Here’s a quick list of all the materials you will need to make this wreath:
- White tulle
- Orange tulle
- Wreath form
- Items to personalize your wreath
- Hot glue gun
Cut your burlap and tulle into strips, approximately 4-5 inches in length. I did not measure each time, so as to create more of an imperfect, rustic look to match the rest of my home decor! Tie the ribbon around the wreath form, alternating colors to create a pattern.
Slide your fall flourish through one of the holes in your wreath form. I bent the wire around the back to hold the pumpkin and berry sprig in place. Tie ribbon over the wire to hide and secure it.
Once you’ve finished adding ribbon to your wreath, you can trim extraneous ribbon edges for a more uniform look. If you like a rustic look like I do, then stagger the ribbon edges for a more imperfect touch. Take your letter and hot glue it directly to the fabric. Let the glue dry and your wreath is ready!
My kids delight in looking around at our festive decor. What a fun year this is – to take things we enjoy and really make our first house a home! What flourishes will you choose for your wreath? Where will you display it?
