Tangy sauce, gooey cheese, spicy pepperoni and a crust with just the right crispiness. Are your tastebuds dancing?
Pizza is one of my favorite indulgences. I’m not going to lie to you and say that this will be a healthy recipe, but sometimes the calories are worth it. Especially when we’re talking about one of the ultimate comfort foods!
Tastefully Simple‘s new line of gluten free products makes it easy to whip together a delicious, gluten free meal on a busy weeknight. All you need is a few ingredients that you most likely have in the pantry. This Tastefully Simple Gluten Free Pizza Crust and Sauce Mix required one cup of warm water and 2 Tablespoons of olive oil for the crust and just 8 ounces of tomato sauce for the sauce mix.
Mix the dough and cover with plastic wrap. While you wait 10 minutes for the dough to rise, you will have plenty of time to prepare your pizza sauce – and maybe sip that glass of wine, too!
Prepare a round cake pan with olive oil. Now it’s time to get your hands dirty. Drizzle some olive oil on your hands to prevent the dough from sticking to you. Press the pizza dough into the round cake pan and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
“If you build it, they will come.” (name that reference – go!) Let’s sprinkle in some mozzarella cheese first. Use as much as your heart desires! I used one 8-ounce package of shredded mozzarella. Scatter pepperoni over the top of the cheese. Then top evenly with pizza sauce.
Put your masterpiece back in the oven for 17-20 minutes, until the edges of the crust are nicely browned. Allow your deep dish pizza to cool for five minutes before slicing to prevent a pooling-effect of melty mozzarella. Unless you’re into that sort of thing, of course. Slice and serve. The crust will be crispy, but soft enough to eat with a fork.
