Review: Beauty Protector Hair Products

Disclosure: I received products for testing purposes in exchange for this review. The thoughts and opinions below are entirely my own.

For the first 25 years of my life, I had a love/hate relationship with my thick, curly hair. If it was cut incorrectly, I looked like a human Christmas tree. If it rained, it was Mount Frizz. I wanted to be able to grow my hair long without ending up with miserable knots. I wanted straight hair like my friends.

Embrace Your Curls! #BeautyProtector #ad

Then…I fell in love with my curls. It was a combination of meeting a stylist that specialized in curly hair, finding the right styling products, and learning how to love myself. Truly. Curly hair is part of my personality and it took me a while to embrace that. My curls have a tendency to get dry and frizzy from weather and product use. I was excited to try this line of Beauty Protector products to see if it helped nourish my curls.

Beauty Protector shampoo and conditioner #ad

The Beauty Protector Protect & Shampoo and Protect & Condition are excellent additions to my daily routine. It smells good and leaves my hair softer. I have fewer issues with frizz, which is always a bonus.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle perfect for the gym #ad

I tote the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle with me to the gym. It’s the perfect leave-in conditioner to spritz in my hair after I shower and use the gym shampoo that’s tough on my hair. Because, let’s face it, I forgot to bring my own shampoo for the eightieth time in a row.

Apply Beauty Protector Protect & Treat Hair Mask #ad

The Beauty Protector Protect & Treat Hair Mask rocked my world. After putting the kids to bed, I apply this to my hair and I feel like a pampered princess. I left it in my hair while I painted my nails and moisturized my skin. It was bliss! The fact that my hair was shiny, soft and luxurious after was an afterthought, albeit an important one.

Lilla Rose Review and Giveaway

Disclosure: I received complimentary product for review purposes. The links below are to a family member’s Lilla Rose business.

I have a love-hate relationship with my hair. It’s thick, curly and unruly. When humidity strikes, I can either choose to look like a poof ball or put my hair up. The same old hair elastics get a little boring, though. Lilla Rose offers a line of pretty hair clips and jewelry to add some sparkle and fun to your look. Now I don’t need to look like I had to put my hair up on a rainy day. I can put my hair up and still look on point! Dark hair and fluorescent university lighting make this a little difficult to see, but the flexi held my super thick, mid-back length hair.

Lilla Rose Review and Giveaway

Lilla Rose offers different sizes for different hair types. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if my hair would fit in one of these due to the length and thickness; but a size medium held my hair! They made a believer out of me – there really is a Lilla Rose hair clip for any hair type. Check out my the Pinterest page of my Lilla Rose consultant, Tracy, for more ideas.

Lilla Rose clips

Tracy is offering a great deal for new customers as well as a giveaway so one of you may try a Lilla Rose item of your choice (up to $16 value)!

Lilla Rose offer

Here’s a little note from Tracy, and the giveaway follows: “If you have been or are currently a customer with Lilla Rose through another consultant, please be loyal and continue to order with her. This offer is for brand new Lilla Rose customers or my current customers only.  I appreciate your understanding in this matter – and I’m sure your sweet consultant does too! (You can always contact her, explain my offer and ask if she would honor it, but please keep in mind it would be at her discretion.) If you have any questions regarding this offer, please don’t hesitate to contact me.”

Tubies and carpet don’t mix – until now. #GoodbyeWorry #CollectiveBias #shop

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias

When C had his NG-tube and then his g-tube placed last August, I did not anticipate all the other “stuff” that comes with having a tubie. I have never cleaned up so much vomit in my life. For a while, it felt like we lived in a scene from The Exorcist. I did my best to clean the surface of the carpet and tried to forget about what was lurking deep within our carpeting.

C gets a tube feeding #GoodbyeWorry #CollectiveBias #shop

I desperately could have used Mohawk SmartStrand carpet. It’s the most comfortable, high quality, stain resistant product on the market and it’s on sale right now. The Mohawk Anniversary Sale is happening now through October 27th and you can save up to $500 on new flooring or 50% on select carpet. They are also hosting a sweepstakes event where you can enter to win cash prizes!

Toddlers leave a mess of toys and crumbs #GoodbyeWorry #CollectiveBias #shop

As a mother of two toddlers, one of whom is a tubie, I need carpeting that will stand up to our messy family. C and Baby Jo leave a flurry of toys and crumbs in their wake. Ten minutes after picking up, my floor already looks like a disaster. Okay, sometimes it is my fault. Why did I serve shredded cheese with dinner?

Baby Jo eats shredded cheese #GoodbyeWorry #CollectiveBias #shop

I was able to test a sample of Mohawk SmartStrand carpet. We still have the occasional vomiting incident or a spilled tube feed. How would this carpeting hold up to a dropped syringe full of food? Our current carpeting is not easy to clean. Well, #GoodbyeWorry! A quick wipe with a wet washcloth, a little spot cleaner and you can’t even tell that anything was dropped on the carpet. The texture is still very soft and even.

Tubies & Carpet can finally get along #GoodbyeWorry #CollectiveBias #shop

I cannot believe how easy it is to clean. I need this!

Mohawk partners with Susan G. Komen® as part of the company’s Decorate for the Cure® program. SmartCushion™ by Mohawk adds extra comfort and durability to your home, along with an instant warranty upgrade, and has donated over $3 million to date for this worthy cause.

Why would SmartStrand carpeting be a great addition to your home?

Well Beginnings Products at Walgreens #MomsMeet

Disclosure: I received this product for free from the sponsor of the Moms MeetSM program, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms MeetsSM blogger, I agreed to use this product and post my opinion on my blog. My opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC or the manufacturer of the product.

It’s been an interesting month around here. There have been lots of sick days, a trip to the hospital, more medical decisions and the usual life with two toddlers. There are some essentials for life with kids that I like to keep around the house: baby wipes, baby wash and pediatric electrolyte solution. We’ve used a lot of these three things this month! Well Beginnings is a baby care brand that is exclusive to Walgreens stores. You can find high quality baby products for an excellent value at your neighborhood Walgreens.

Cleaning #gtube site with baby wipes #tubiehack #momhack #MomsMeet

Baby Wipes
Like many parents, we use baby wipes for a lot of things! There are the typical uses, of course, but I also like to keep a package in the bathroom for C’s g-tube care. (Alert: #MomHack! #TubieHack! haha) Part of his morning routine is having his g-tube area cleaned with a Well Beginnings baby wipe. It’s more convenient than using soap and a washcloth, which we do during baths at night anyway. These baby wipes are strong and thick, while also being hypoallergenic for his sensitive skin. They’re also alcohol-free – an important feature when using on a tube site!

Well Beginnings Baby Wash for Baby Jo #MomsMeet

Baby Wash
Bath night! All I need to do is utter those two words and my kids spring into a mad dash to the bathroom. They love bath night! I pour in some warm water, bath toys and a little Well Beginnings Baby Wash to get the bubbles and fun started. I like that this baby wash cleans without drying out the kids’ skin, because it is 100% soap-free, dye-free and pH-balanced. That means I can give them the excitement of bath night more often!

Well at Walgreens Pediatric Dye-Free Oral Electrolyte for my #tubie #MomsMeet

Pediatric Electrolyte Solution
C and Baby Jo get sick a lot. Or so it seems. I’m not sure, but it feels like we go through a round of sickness every couple of weeks. I always keep pediatric electrolyte solution in the apartment now, just in case. Sure enough – C had a stomach bug and high fever again this month so we went through a couple bottles of this! Very important to have on hand in case the whole family gets hit with a stomach bug at the same time!

You can connect with Walgreens on Facebook or Twitter and tell them about your favorite Well Beginnings product!

Thai Yellow Chicken Curry #momsmeet #worldfoods

One dish that I have always wanted to make but could never master? Chicken fried rice. With WORLDFOODS Indonesian Style Fried Rice ‘Nasi Goreng’ Paste, making chicken fried rice was a breeze. I was able to use a bunch of vegetables from our organic CSA, leftover chicken from the night before, and this paste to create this delicious dish. Preparing the vegetables takes more time than cooking, but you can simplify by using frozen peas instead of snapping fresh ones.

Fresh snap peas #momsmeet
It’s a labor of love!

I tossed bok choy, onion, garlic scapes, peas and rainbow chard into a large pan and sautéed them. You could use any vegetables your heart desires! When the bok choy and onion looked translucent, I added the WORLDFOODS Indonesian Style Fried Rice ‘Nasi Goreng’ Paste.

Next, I added the cooked chicken and poured in about 3 cups of brown rice. Once the sauce was evenly distributed, it was ready to serve!

ginnybakes product line #momsmeet

“Mommy, I eat cookie!”

C may not eat much orally, but the boy sure likes treats! I want to make sure that what he eats is filled with natural ingredients. When it comes to treats, that’s pretty difficult to do.

Ginnybakes is a family-owned company whose founder is a holistic nutritionist. Their passion for creating delicious and nutritious treats for all leads them to using all-natural ingredients that are gluten-free, organic, non-GMO and kosher. They also offer vegan treats!

ginnybakes ginnyminis #momsmeet

The kids and I really liked the ginnyminis. They were the perfect size for their little hands and once the bag was gone, they didn’t ask me for more! The chocolate chip oatmeal bliss had a nice texture, and weren’t as crispy as the other cookies.

ginnybakes lovely brownie bliss #momsmeet

I gave the lovely brownie bliss bake mix to a friend of mine. She was a little skeptical, having been unimpressed with gluten-free brownies in the past, but she and her roommate were pleasantly surprised by the chocolatey flavor!

ginnybakes cookie #momsmeet

Hubster doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth, but he really enjoyed the dark chocolate in the chocolate chip cookie line. The dark chocolate provides a richness and decadence to the cookie. Yum!

Ginny and her team make sure that only the finest ingredients go into their products, and their efforts show in the quality and taste of their baked goods. Find out where ginnybakes is sold near you by visiting their website, and be sure to connect with ginnybakes on Facebook and Twitter!
