I received product from Jennie-O. The thoughts, opinions and recipe below are entirely my own.
When you think of comfort food, what comes to mind? I think of something warm and hearty, the cheesier the better. Spaghetti is perfect, as long as you top it with enough cheese. If you add cheese to the sauce? Even better. I recently had Jennie-O Italian Seasoned Ground Turkey to work with. Meatballs sounded perfect, no? Italian Turkey Meatballs and Creamy Spaghetti was the name of the game.
You can get fancy and add an egg and breadcrumbs to your meatballs. I had two kids running all over the apartment, so I had to make it fast. I formed these meatballs straight out of the package and did not add any ingredients to them. They clung together without any problem. I preheated the oven to 400 degrees, lined a pan with aluminum foil (hey, I’m always up for fewer dishes to wash!) and popped these in for 20 minutes.
They smelled delicious. I poured a jar of marinara, a can of diced tomatoes and two cloves of crushed garlic into my slow cooker. I popped in the meatballs, covered and cooked on low for 2 hours.
Cook pasta according to the directions on the package. I chose penne. C has since discovered wagon wheel pasta and I think, “wheels,” will be the pasta of choice around here from now on! He ate more wheels than any other pasta I have ever served!
While the pasta cooks, add one package of Ricotta cheese to the sauce mixture. Stir well so that it melts and combines. When the pasta is done, you’re ready to eat! Pour sauce and meatballs over your pasta. Grab your fork and get ready to be comforted!
