I Made The Right Decisions

My second pregnancy brought about a lot of decisions that I needed to make. Considering my history of postpartum depression, emergency cesarean and hyperemesis, there were some difficult choices I had to make.

This time around, I was under the care of a psychiatrist. I wanted to seek out the advice of someone whose sole focus was psychotropic medication. After the horrific experience I had coming off of the last antidepressant, which was prescribed by the nurse practitioner in my former OBGYN clinic, I wasn’t going to take any chances.

Baby Deuce is Here!

I had a premonition that she would arrive before her scheduled date of May 6! We were hoping that she would stay in there until 38 weeks, and she did…by about an hour!

On Saturday, we decided to have a family day at the zoo and the park to celebrate C’s 2nd birthday (more on that this week!). Much to my surprise, I did not experience a single contraction with all of that walking we did. That was really unusual. So what happened later that night shocked me.

I’m Relieved About My Repeat C-Section

As I was sitting in C’s room waiting for him to fall asleep, it occurred to me that I am not at all nervous about having this baby. Flashback to two years ago – I was almost panicky thinking about my upcoming birth. I’m slightly shocked that I’m not concerned about this one. My birth with C was quite traumatic and resulted in an emergency c-section. I expected to be a bundle of nerves for any future birth experience.

To Tie or Not To Tie? A Question of Tubal Ligation

“Are we just doing the c-section or are we tying your tubes as well?” My OB looked at me with eyebrows raised, waiting for an answer.

“No, just the c-section,” was my baffled reply. I hadn’t even considered that as an option. At that point, I was only 28-ish weeks. I’ve had nearly 10 weeks to think about this and I still don’t know what I want to do.

I Did It! My Pre-Pregnancy Jeans Fit!

When I look at this, I'm happy it *only* took me 6 months! ;)

Yes, I realize it has been six months since my son was delivered via c-section.  I never thought it would take this long or be this much work to get back into my pre-pregnancy jeans.  It’s been a bit disheartening seeing other moms get back to their pre-pregnancy size, or even smaller, months before I have.  But, it’s time to put all that behind me because it’s my time now – I DID IT!  Today I was able to button my pre-pregnancy jeans!!!

My Son Killed My Mid-Section

I was excited to notice how loose the jeans are that I’ve been wearing since having C.  So, I thought I’d test my luck and try on all of my old jeans.  Um…yeah, that was a bad idea.

My pre-C jeans fit perfectly everywhere except the waist.  C killed my mid-section!  Ugh.  It’s terrible.  I need to lose probably another 2-3 inches on my waist before I can fit into those old jeans.  Somehow I’ve managed to shrink my thighs and butt back to their pre-C level, but that ol’ waist is hanging tough.  C stretched it to the max and I hope it’ll someday shrink back up.

I was really hoping that by now I’d be able to comfortably fit into my pre-pregnancy pants.  I can button them!  I just can’t breathe.

I’ve been working out once/day (sometimes twice!) for the past few weeks and have lost inches…but not enough off of my waist.

Postpartum Body

Ugh…I didn’t want it to get warm so quickly.  I don’t have anything to wear!

I’m in this “in-between” phase for clothing options and it is not fun!  I have a pair of maternity jeans from early in my pregnancy that I’ve been wearing, but they tend to fall down easily since I don’t have the belly to hold them up.  I have sweatpants.  Other than that…I need to lose another 2-3 inches in my waist before I can comfortably button my pre-pregnancy pants.  Boo!!
