30 Before 30: #5 Join a Local Mom’s Group

In the fall, I joined a local chapter of MOPS: Mothers of Preschoolers.  We meet a couple times each month at a local church.  While I hang out with the other moms, C gets to play with other kids his age.  I have to admit, it’s a nice little sanity break for me to have about an hour and a half away from my child *ahem* with other adults.  I’m still getting to know the other women – it’s hard to get to know each other very well when we only see each other twice per month! – but I’ll certainly be going back each year (they meet September-April).

Now I can cross another item off of my 30 Before 30 list!

Our First Day of MOPS

This morning, C and I are headed to our first MOPS meeting in our new city.  I’m excited to meet new moms and for C to have time to play with other kids his age.  But…I’m nervous!  I mean, of course I am.  I’m putting myself out there and meeting new people.  If only it were as simple as being a little kid on a playground: want to be my friend?

;)

Have you tried anything new lately?  How did it work out for you?

Our First Day of MOPS!

I’m pretty impressed with myself.  Why, you ask?  Well, let me tell you!

C and I were both clean, dressed, and out the door by 8:40 this morning so that we could attend our first MOPS meeting!  MOPS is short for Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers (birth to kindergarten).  C hung out in the NURSERY for the first time ever.  I was a little nervous about it, because we’ve never left him with anyone except family.  But, when I got to the room and there were 3 or 4 other babies screaming their little lungs out, I knew that he’d be just fine.  ;)

As for me, I had a great time and met some fun ladies.  We have small groups that we do most things with, so it will be awesome to get to know some other moms.  Next time, my group is bringing breakfast!

Yay!
