C is just getting to the age where he’s afraid of the dark. He likes to turn off the lights and say, “It’s dark in here.” But just moments later, he’ll follow that with, “It’s scawee! I’m scared!”
I introduced him to Monster Defense, a brave spray that scares away monsters and helps cure children’s fear. C laughed when I sprayed the monsters away. I smiled, too, because it smells fantastic. It’s made with ingredients like mandarin essential oil, vanilla extract and maple syrup fragrance – so it smells like oranges and french toast!
I like to pretend that all the monsters congregate near the diaper changing table…
Matt and Whitney Hardesty, the creators of Monster Defense, will also have a book coming out in January called, “Monsters, Beware!” Sounds like a great companion to their Monster Defense spray!

Have you heard of Fair Trade Certified™ coffee? I knew that Fair Trade farmers were treated fairly, but I didn’t really know what that meant. Fair Trade Certification means that farmers are paid a fair price for their coffee beans and receive a guaranteed minimum. That allows them the freedom to invest in their crops and work closely with Green Mountain Coffee® to bring the best quality coffee to the consumer.
There’s nothing I love more than my morning cup of coffee. (There’s nothing my family loves more than my morning cup of coffee!) My Keurig makes my life easier because all I need to do is pop in a K-cup, and push a button. Now I can feel even better about my choices, because Green Mountain Coffee® has Fair Trade Certified™ Three Continent Blend K-Cup® packs.
It. Is. Good. I love the aroma of my fresh-brewed Three Continent Blend, and the full-bodied flavor doesn’t disappoint. The medium roast is a perfect blend – not too dark, not too light.
Head on over to ChooseFairTrade.com to browse the varieties of Green Mountain Coffee® Fair Trade Certified™ coffee now – it’s a perfect holiday gift that you can feel good about sharing (or just keep to enjoy yourself!).

Now that I’m a mom of two, I don’t do my nails as often as I’d like. It always seems to take a lot of time, and then I need to clean it up a little with nail polish remover. I can’t color in the lines very well. I was excited to receive a sample of Nail Cones. They call it, “A deliciously easy way to apply nail polish!”
In keeping with my nature, I was a little skeptical. I usually am when a product claims it’ll make my life easier. I ripped it open and applied the Nail Cones tightly around my nails. They come in three different sizes and are easily manipulated to fit tightly around the shape of your nail. I grabbed some pale pink polish and got started.
I waited for the polish to dry before slowly peeling off the Nail Cones. Voila – no polish on my skin! Very cool.
Turns out that Nail Cones were invented by a woman who was frustrated with removing extraneous nail polish with a Q-tip. Cindy Christman set out to make her own life easier, resulting in Nail Cones! I love supporting female entrepreneurs. What a cool idea, Cindy!

Ever struggle to get the crusty boogers off your sick child’s nose? I certainly did. C would get so angry with us when we tried to wipe his nose. He’d flail, kick, cry and shake his head wildly. Then I remembered hearing about how great Boogie Wipes are. My practical side was skeptical – wouldn’t a wet washcloth work just as well? After fighting C for two days during his latest cold, I decided to give the Boogie Wipes a try.
Let me tell you, I wish I would have tried them sooner! A few swipes with a Boogie Wipe were enough to make the crusty boogers disappear. It took less time, which meant less of a struggle between C and me. AND – they smell fantastic. We bought the Fresh Scent. It freshened up C’s entire face and made him smell great. :)
I’d recommend them!

Cleaning – it’s a dirty job, but we all need to do it. Now that we have a moving, grooving child in our home, I find myself cleaning a lot. I enjoy the sparkly sheen of a clean home, but I don’t like how cleaning chemicals dry out my skin. While I clean the bathroom, I like to wear disposable gloves to protect my skin from harsh chemicals. I like that I can peel off the nastiness of bathroom grime and put the glove in the garbage when I’m done. I received a box of 100 disposable nitrile gloves from Magid Gloves & Safety Manufacturing Company LLC for review and got to work testing them!
Ready to clean!
These latex-free gloves are highly durable. In the past, I’ve made the mistake of purchasing inferior vinyl or latex gloves to save money, only to have them rip while putting them on my hands. These Magid EconoWear T9557 Blue Powdered 5 Mil. Disposable Nitrile Gloves will keep your hands covered from even the most strenuous scrubbing.
Another problem that I typically have with gloves is keeping my hands dry. My hands usually get a bit sweaty, but the Magid gloves kept my hands both clean and dry. The rolled cuffs make it easy to take the gloves off, and the textured fingers allow for an easy grip on your cleaning products.
Magid makes these gloves in sizes S-2XL. They sell for $8.25/box and there is a discount price of $7.20/box when purchasing 20 or more boxes. I think this is a great deal for a quality product.
Thank you to Magid for sending me a sample for review!

Making your own baby food can save you hundreds of dollars. That was enough to persuade me! I discovered that it’s actually a lot easier than it sounds, too. I’m not super-conscious of eating organic foods, but I love knowing exactly what I’m feeding my son.
The Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker makes my life even easier. With this little appliance, I can steam and blend C’s food in one step. Making some peas? Just fill the reservoir with water, pour the peas in the cup and set the steam and blend button to 20 minutes. Voila, 20 minutes later I have a supply of pureed peas that I can pour into my ice cube trays.
I’ve made purees out of sweet potatoes, avocados, pears, carrots, squash and peas. The Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker has handled all of them with ease. The appliance costs about $100 when you order from Amazon. It’s easy to use, easy to clean and doesn’t take up much space. When C is too old for purees, we’ll still be able to use it for other purposes. It was a fantastic purchase!

When C had colic during his first eight weeks, Hubster and I were desperate to find anything that would help him. Hubster had heard about the BABYBJÖRN BabySitter Balance from a supervisor. We balked at the price, but we were sold after Hubster conducted further research on the product.
The natural rocking motion helps develop a child’s motor skills and balance, since the baby is in complete control of the seat’s movements. There isn’t a mechanism to make the seat move. When C was very young, we could use our foot to bounce the seat. By about 2.5 months of age, C recognized that he was in charge of making the seat bounce. Even now, at 7 months of age, he loves his seat. He swings his legs up as high as he can and quickly brings them down. It’s pretty hilarious to watch him bouncing and laughing.
There are three positions to the seat: play, rest and sleep. The weight maximum is 29 pounds for play, 22 pounds for rest and 15 pounds for sleep. I love that the weight maximum is that high so we can get a lot of use out of the seat.
Another thing I love is that the fabric comes completely off in one piece and is machine washable. It’s been so easy to clean spit-up or general baby slobber.
We’ve also been able to bring this along with us when we visit family, because it folds almost flat for easy travel or storage.
Even though the price is a bit steep, we’ve found that the BABYBJÖRN BabySitter Balance is worth the investment. It’s a quality product that has grown with C, and I know that he will continue to enjoy it for many more months. I love that it is so compact when folded down. It’s so easy to use and clean. I recommend it!

C typically does not have any diaper rash; however, he’s had quite a bit of redness since he started teething. We avoid changing C’s diaper during the night because it causes him to wake up too much. By the morning, his little butt is red. We started applying Motherlove Diaper Rash & Thrush salve before bed and also when he wakes up. The redness has significantly diminished in the past two weeks. In fact, on most days C does not have any diaper rash. We apply the salve even when his bootie isn’t red for preventative measures.
The consistency of the salve is a lot different than the typical white paste that you slather onto your baby’s bottom! It’s almost the consistency of a lip balm. It goes on clear and doesn’t leave any residue behind (heh, behind! I crack myself up! Oh, the puns just keep on coming…). The salve seems to moisturize the skin in addition to healing the diaper rash.
As a mother, I like to use as many natural ingredients as possible for my son. Motherlove Diaper Rash & Thrush salve is made with 96% certified organic ingredients. It’s an all-natural herbal treatment. If your baby struggles with diaper rash, I would highly recommend this product!
