Baby Deuce: 24 Week Update

Pajama Day! The wind chill was -25 degrees, so we huddled up indoors yesterday on Hubster's day off.

Pajama Day! The wind chill was -25 degrees, so we huddled up indoors yesterday on Hubster’s day off.

How far along? 24 weeks, 1 day

Cravings: I had to buy a package of Oreos this week.  Nom nom nom!

Aversions: Where do I begin?

Feeling? I’ve been doing okay with HG, so on Sunday night I decided to skip the Unisom that I’ve been taking every single night (part of my “drug cocktail” as I call it. I’ve been able to do without Zofran most of the time, but not Unisom.).  That was a big mistake!  I felt very nauseous yesterday, and will go back to taking my nightly Unisom.  Ugh!

I also had another huge blood sugar crash.  I didn’t realize what it was right away.  It was scary how fast I went downhill to the point of feeling like I was going to die.  I’m hoping that I don’t end up with gestational diabetes, but right now I think it’s simply a low blood sugar issue.

What I’m looking forward to: Quite honestly, the only thing pregnancy-related thing I’m looking forward to at the moment is meeting this baby and kicking HG to the curb!

What I miss: High-intensity cardio!  I cannot WAIT to go back to my favorite workouts.

What was the BEST part of last week? Hubster had a three-day weekend with MLK, Jr. Day.  It was nice to hang out as a family.  We also had a grad school friend stay with us for the first part of the weekend and it was awesome to hang out with her!

What was the WORST part of last week?  Thinking I could go without my Unisom…and then experiencing the consequences.

Milestones: We know that Baby Deuce is a girl!

One of our pic attempts - C being silly!

Baby Deuce: 16 Week Bump Update

C was laughing so hard!

How far along? 16 weeks, 4 days

Cravings: Vlasic Zesty Dill Spear Pickles

Aversions: Most vegetables and protein

Feeling?  Tired!  I think Baby Deuce went through a big growth spurt this week, because I’ve been totally zapped of my energy.

What I’m looking forward to: Hubster was able to get Friday off since he worked on Thanksgiving, so he has a three-day weekend!  We’re planning on some family fun, like going to a holiday lights display and maybe even the zoo.

What I miss: Being able to zip/button non-maternity coats. :(

What was the BEST part of last week? Even though Hubster was on duty over Thanksgiving and the weekend, he was home a lot.  We had a lot of quality family time!  I had an OB appointment on Monday and scheduled my ultrasound for mid-December.  I cannot WAIT to find out Baby Deuce’s gender!

What was the WORST part of last week?  I discovered that I’ve been having low blood sugar.  I’ve experienced a couple of blood sugar crashes that were really tough.  Now I’m learning what to eat/when to eat in order to keep things level.  It’s a learning process!

Milestones: Scheduling the ultrasound was super exciting!

Weekly Update

38.5 Weeks

Size of baby: Watermelon (19-22 inches, around 7 lbs)

Newly craved food:  Pineapple, Strawberries, Spicy Mexican Food

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss?  Sleeping without hip and back pain; walking without waddling.

What are you looking forward to?  Meeting our little guy.

What was the BEST part of last week?  Finding out that all the contractions I have been having are making progress and now I’m 2.5 cm dilated.  Not as much as I would have liked, but it’s something!

What was the WORST part of last week?  The insane amount of contractions and outrageous back pain.  The fact that they are time-able, but always stop.

38-Week Appointment Update

For those who are curious how my 38-week appointment went today…

On Sunday, I had contractions that were 6 minutes apart for 8 hours, then they stopped.  Since then, I’ve been woken up in the middle of the night with contractions 4 minutes apart for one hour, then they always stop.  The good news is that these contractions are at least making a little progress.  I am now dilated 2.5 cm.

My doctor is scheduled to have her baby on Monday, so I’ll be switching doctors next week.  My next appointment is the afternoon of Friday, April 22.  With all the other doctors taking over my doctor’s patients, their schedules are now very full and it’s harder to get in.  At that point, I’ll be 39.5 weeks.  Hopefully we’ll have Baby C by then!

I did ask about inductions and at what point they start to talk about scheduling them.  If I go past due, then we’ll be able to schedule an induction.  My due date is Tuesday, April 26.  The frustrating part for me is that I’ve always known my due date is one week off…so technically I’ll be 41 weeks if I get to my due date.  I’m really hoping that it doesn’t get to that point!!!

Here’s hoping our little boy decides to come out very soon.  I keep telling him as he’s pushing his feet up and under my rib cage that he’d have WAY more room to move around if he just COMES OUT!

Weekly Update

So my “weekly update” will probably combine weeks 36 and 37 this time.  Oops!

36 weeks, 5 days

Size of baby: Watermelon (19-22 inches, around 6.5 lbs)

Newly craved food:  Ghirardelli Caramel Turtle Brownies, Grapes, Pineapple

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss?  Sleeping through the night, walking without waddling.

What are you looking forward to?  My next appointment on Wednesday to see how dilated I am!  Last Tuesday, I was at 1cm.

What was the BEST part of last week?  Last week Sunday, our friends threw us a baby shower!  It was super sweet and fun, and we got some sweet stuff for Baby C.  Yesterday, Hubster and I spent the day together…perhaps our last full day together as a family of 2?  We went out to lunch, shopping around town, and went for a walk because the weather was BEAUTIFUL yesterday.

What was the WORST part of last week?  The cramping and contractions are getting more frequent and intense.

It's a little blurry, but the best of the 10 attempts!

Weekly Update

31 weeks

Size of baby: Head of Lettuce (18 in., 3.2 lbs) (he was bigger than that at the ultrasound a couple weeks ago)

Newly craved food: Chips & salsa, shamrock shake

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss: Going on vacations with the hubster.  I was actually starting to look into a Carribbean vacation for us this spring/summer when I found out we were expecting :)

What are you looking forward to: We had to cancel massages since we left our vacation early over the weekend, but we’re planning on scheduling some at a salon in town.  I can’t wait until I can get a massage and hopefully release some muscle tension!

What was the BEST part of last week? We had a great Friday night and Saturday on vacation before we had to leave early and come home Saturday night due to a snowstorm.  Spent the entire day Saturday walking around the Mall of America.  It was super fun hanging out together, and I finally got an incredible night of sleep after walking for a whole day!

What was the WORST part of last week? The fact that our weekend away was cut short because of weather. :’(

Here I am, freshly back from the salon.  I had several inches chopped off my hair, which totally brought my curls back to life.  And getting my hair shampooed was heavenly. :)

Weekly Update

30 weeks

Size of baby: Butternut Squash (17 in., 3.1 lbs) (although, he was bigger than this 1.5 weeks ago…)

Newly craved food: Last night I wanted oreos and milk, but there haven’t been any weird cravings in a while.

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss: Being able to cross my legs.

What are you looking forward to: We’re going away this weekend and I can’t wait!  It’ll be so fun to have one last weekend away together before the baby comes.

What was the BEST part of last week? We had an awesome Saturday together, the first day (including weekends!) that the hubster took off of work since we visited family for the holidays.

What was the WORST part of last week? A preterm labor scare.  (turns out it wasn’t though!)

Being Sick While Pregnant

Yesterday and today I have been feeling quite sick.  Even though a friend of ours graciously decided not to attend our Superbowl party because he was sick and didn’t want to pass it along to me, I somehow ended up getting sick anyway.  Headache, body ache, chills, fever, nausea.  Let me tell ya, it’s not fun – especially when you’re pregnant.

I was fortunate to be able to spend the majority of my day in bed yesterday.  However, my growing bump is now preventing me from being able to turn over easily.  I found out the hard way that if I turn too quickly, I can pull a muscle.  Yes – pull a muscle from turning over in bed.  Man, I can’t wait until I get even BIGGER.  :-p

Needless to say, this is why you will not find a weekly update here this week.  There is NO WAY I’m taking a picture of myself in such a condition ;)

To any of you who are also feeling under the weather – keep your fluids up, and hope you feel better soon!

Weekly Update

28 weeks, 1 days

Size of baby: Small cabbage (17 in., 2.9 lbs)

Newly craved food: This is so random and I haven’t caved into this craving yet…but Little Debbie Zebra Cakes.  I don’t think I’ve had one of those since I was in elementary school, so I find it a little confusing!

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss: Working…it’s been a little difficult not getting out of the apartment as much as I used to.

What are you looking forward to: Seeing our baby via ultrasound on Friday.  Apparently I’m carrying a monster baby, so they’ve scheduled a growth ultrasound since I’m measuring further ahead.

What was the BEST part of last week? Catching up on some sleep over the weekend.  It was weird not having the hubster home while he was at a conference, but it was also kind of nice going to bed early and not feeling like I was missing out on time with him.

What was the WORST part of last week? Back pain.

Weekly Update

27 weeks, 0 days

Size of baby: Cucumber (15 in., 2.2 lbs)

Newly craved food: Grapefruit, alfredo sauce

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss: Not necessarily what I miss, but I really, really would love to go on a vacation!

What are you looking forward to: Trying my other pregnancy workouts – tried prenatal pilates thus far and it was great.

What was the BEST part of last week? THE PACKERS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!  Need I say more? ;)

What was the WORST part of last week? I’m not sure…probably being kicked in the ribs…

Weekly Update

26 weeks

Size of baby: Cucumber (approx. 15 in., 2.2 lbs)

Newly craved food: I indulged in some Cold Stone this week and it was fantastic!

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss: This week I started to miss working in a full-time job, mostly because of the constant social interactions that come along with it.  It’s weird being home all of the time, and I’m looking forward to having our baby to keep me busy!

What are you looking forward to: My three pregnancy workout DVDs just arrived and I am excited to try them out!  Look for reviews in the upcoming weeks ;)

What was the BEST part of last week? We moved around our furniture in our living room and bedroom.  The pack and play is now set up in the bedroom, which is nice but also a little strange since the baby won’t be coming until April!  Our living room rearrangement provides for some more floor space and we’re enjoying how much bigger it feels now.

What was the WORST part of last week? Even since taking this picture on Tuesday, I feel like my belly has taken on a life of its own because it looks so huge now.  My belly feels so heavy by the end of the day and I am becoming more and more aware of how much my lap is starting to disappear.  It’s so strange!  But I suppose that may be the reason for my discomfort the past several days.

Weekly Update

25 weeks, 2 days

Size of baby: Eggplant (approx. 9.2 in., 2 lbs)

Newly craved food: Chocolate, Cold Stone Creamery ice cream

Food aversions: Beef, fried foods

What do you miss: Nothing new :)

What are you looking forward to: I ordered three pregnancy workout DVDs today and am excited for them to get here.  I so badly want to work out, but my usual workouts were too high intensity for me to do now.

What was the BEST part of last week?
1. Having a great doctor appointment!  Found out that I’m measuring big, so if I’m still measuring big next time then we’ll do an ultrasound to see if my due date is incorrect.

2. I only gained 3 pounds in 5 weeks!!  I’m so excited that I’m not gaining too much weight.  I’m right on track for being on the lowest end of the recommended weight gain.

3. Finding a church in our new hometown and signing up for a Bible study – I’m hoping that I’ll meet some other young moms in the area while also stepping out of my comfort zone.

4. After a few days of being less active, my little acrobat is moving around quite often now.  It’s a little frustrating at times if he’s kicking me in an uncomfortable place, but generally it’s fun to feel him move or see my belly jump a little from his kicks.

What was the WORST part of last week? The past two days I have been SO tired.  It’s hard to get anything accomplished!  I’m hoping that it’s just normal and that I won’t end up being anemic.
