Summer is a notoriously busy time of year. Between all the activities, home projects and summer gatherings, there isn’t much time when moving from one thing to the next. Our to-do list of projects for our house is still miles long. We’re filling in every spare moment with tasks indoors and out. The other day, I had 30 minutes to clean our home before guests arrived. How do you clean your home for a summer party in 30 minutes? It is possible! Here are my summer cleaning hacks:
Step 1: Vacuum the main living areas. No one will notice that you skipped the bedrooms, so don’t waste your time there!
Step 2: Clean off the table. Our kids always leave a bunch of toys and half-eaten snacks on the kitchen table. I tossed all the toys in their toy boxes, covered the snacks and stashed them in a cabinet, and wiped down the table. Clearing the clutter alone makes for a more visually pleasing space!
Step 3: Wipe down kitchen surfaces and stainless steel appliances. Guests don’t need to see last night’s spaghetti sauce stain next to the stovetop! It’s a quick fix. If your kitchen has stainless steel appliances, use my hack to quickly eliminate fingerprint smudges.
Step 4: Clean the bathrooms. Wipe down mirrors, countertops and toilets. Replace hand towels so guests may dry their hands with a clean, plush towel. Put all non-essential items into a drawer or cabinet to reduce clutter.
Step 5: Restock the bathrooms. I like to make sure we have plenty of Charmin available for guests. The Charmin Ultra Mega Roll lasts longer than even the leading 1000 sheet brand, based on average usage. If I restock before guests arrive, I don’t need to worry about how many people are using our bathrooms. Charmin is Roto-Rooter approved and it’s used by more plumbers than any other brand. I know that whether I stock the bathrooms with Charmin Ultra Strong or Charmin Ultra Soft, it will be clog-free or it is free. I’m super conscious of this because my worst fear when I visit someone else’s house is a toilet clog. Anyone else? Ha!
Tell me – what are your cleaning hacks? Were you able to get your home ready for guests in 30 minutes using these steps?
