The day before my mom’s back surgery, my husband was diagnosed with strep throat. It was terrible timing! I knew that I couldn’t be at the hospital to wait with my dad or see my mom when she got out of surgery. It also meant that, until we knew our family was no longer contagious, I wouldn’t be able to assist as a caregiver when she returned home. Thankfully, there was something that we could do! We went to Sam’s Club and created a comforting gift basket for my mom to enjoy as she was recovering from surgery.
The Sam’s Club Family Caregiving program offers members a variety of great products to assist in their caregiving needs. I found the Member’s Mark Adult Washcloths in the caregiving section of the club. I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel very fresh when I skip a shower! If your loved one recovering from surgery has bathing restrictions, Adult Washcloths are a helpful option. They are easily accessible with a press-open lid and clinically tested for mildness to skin. These washcloths were a must for our gift basket!
I enjoyed walking through the club to find other comforts for my mom. She is the type of person who enjoys keeping busy. It is hard for her to slow down, even when those are the doctor’s orders! An adult coloring book could keep her mind and hands busy. She might even sip on a cup of chai while coloring the various mandalas.
Comfort was our theme. Since I couldn’t be there to make sure she was comfortable, I wanted to fill her basket with cozy warmth. Sam’s Club, with its Member’s Mark brand, is an awesome one-stop shop for caregiving needs.
A plush throw and soft slippers completed our gift basket. For just $50, we created a comforting gift basket for our loved one with the premium quality products and members-only value found at Sam’s Club. For members with ongoing caregiving needs, Sam’s Club also provides subscription, pick-up, and additional health and wellness services to help make your life a little easier.
My mom spends her life giving and caring for our family. When I was shuttling C to various hospital and doctor visits, she basically helped me raise Jo. I don’t know what I would have done without her help. We all want to be there for her when she needs us, in any way that we can. I’m thankful that we were able to do something for her even when we couldn’t be there in person!
